R`n`B artist takes to Russia
Grammy nominated American musician John Forté, who collaborated with the multi-platinum hip hop band The Fugees, as well as Black Eyed Peas and Lauren Hill, among others, will play a gig in Moscow this Sunday.
ґThe versatile rhythm and blues musician has actually been in Russia for several months already, having embarked on a journey across the country, dubbed "From Brooklyn to Russia with Love!"
Part of the challenge behind the tour, described as a "multimedia venture", was to spend some time recording and performing with local Russian musicians - from classical orchestras to cutting-edge singer/songwriters.
The Brooklyn native rapper was once one of the most promising American stars, before he was charged with drug possession and sentenced to 14 years in prison. Later, Forté`s became one of 11 sentences commuted by President Bush during his eight years in office.
When released from Fort Dix in 2008, Forté went back to recoding music and working on new albums, but also tried his hand at writing. His memoir became the subject of a documentary about his life.
